| Sorry, though we love ‘em, kids might not enjoy this kind of tour, and you, their parents, probably wouldn’t enjoy yourselves as much either. This would be a good week to send them to camp or Grandma’s house…you deserve a break, don’t you? |

How do we get to Morelia?
The city has a wonderful modern airport, with flights arriving every day on Continental and Mexicana Airlines from major cities in the U.S. If you choose to book a flight to Mexico City or Guadalajara, you CAN take a 4-hour bus ride to Morelia. Mexico By Hand will not assume responsibility for that part of your journey, but we will be happy to make suggestions if you choose to arrive at an airport other than Morelia.
How much do I need to worry about health and safety issues? I hear about people getting sick from the food and water, and that Mexico is not very safe. Is that true?
We lived in Morelia, which is a large city of almost a million, and never had any problems. Peggy and our teenage daughter felt more comfortable walking around at night in Morelia than they do in California. (We wouldn’t say the same thing about Mexico City, but we aren’t taking people there). Today there is a much higher awareness about food preparation and hygiene issues in Mexico. Bottled water is available almost everywhere (the tap water is generally not safe to drink) and one can even enjoy a delicious salad in the higher quality restaurants. (Peggy has always been very cautious and even she admits it’s okay.) We will be advising you more on health issues if you choose to join us, but for now let’s just say that apart from the occasional stomachache and diarrhea (which is often a result of too much chile) you will most likely be fine.
It is very important you are aware that, as a minimum, average level of fitness and mobility is required for travel in Mexico. Travelers must be able to walk without the aid of another person, climb 3-4 flights of stairs, step on and off small boats, and carry their own luggage at a minimum. We will be walking a lot, and we will be at an altitude of 5,000 to 7,000 feet.

Okay, I think I am up for this, but I’m not absolutely sure.
