Embroidered "picture" by Purepecha Indian women from near Lake Patzcuaro in Michoacán. These brightly colored hand embroidered pieces depict scenes or stories from daily life and village festivals. The picture is on a white background and features a scene from the Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration. It includes a hand carved wood frame by a Patzcuaro artisan that is a work of art itself. You have to see it in person to appreciate how special this piece is.
